His Excellency Mr Nasser A Kamel

Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Mr Kamel has been the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the UK since September 2014. His previous position prior to the UK was Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cairo (2012-2014). Shortly after joining the Egyptian Foreign Service in 1983, he was posted as Political and Economic Office, at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington D.C., (1984-1988). He then returned to Cairo to join the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (1988-1990). Later he was posted as an Economic Counsellor in the Egyptian Embassy in Lisbon (1990-1994), and then, in Tunis (1994-1998), before moving back to Cairo as to assume the position of Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign   Affairs (1998-1999). In 1999-2001 he was appointed as Deputy Chief of Mission, Head of the European Commission/Council in the Egyptian Mission in Brussels, then as a Deputy Chief of Mission at the Egyptian Embassy in Paris (2001 – 2004).  From 2004 to 2006 Mr Kamel was appointed Director of Egypt’s Public Information Service. He was then appointed as the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to France for 6 years (2006 – 2012), where he was also Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and l'Organization International de la Francophonie(OIF). Ambassador Nasser Kamel attended undergraduate studies in the School of Economics and Political Science of the University of Brussels, and the School of Economic and Political Sciences of Cairo University.  He also studied in the Institut International d'Administration Publique, in Paris (1982-1983). Mr. Kamel is married with two sons.

Sir Jeffrey Donaldson

PM Trade Envoy to Egypt

Jeffrey Donaldson’s political career began in 1985 when he was first elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly with the distinction at the age of 22 of being the youngest person to win a seat at Stormont.   Jeffrey was subsequently elected to the UK Parliament on 1 May 1997 to represent the constituency of Lagan Valley and was re-elected in June 2017 for a sixth term. He was a key member of the Ulster Unionist Party negotiating team in the talks culminating in the Belfast Agreement in April 1998. He subsequently joined the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) in January 2004 and became a key member of their negotiating team for the review of the Belfast Agreement which culminated in a new Agreement at St Andrew’s in 2006. Following the restoration of Devolved Government in May 2007, Jeffrey was appointed as the lead DUP member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board. He also chaired the Assembly and Executive Review Committee whose remit included the preparations for the devolution of Policing and Justice Powers to the Assembly.  Jeffrey was appointed by Her Majesty the Queen in 2007 as a Member of the Privy Council. In February 2008, Jeffrey was appointed to Ministerial Office in the Office of the First Minister in the Northern Ireland Government. As a Minister, he held responsibility for Victims issues, Children and Young People, policies on Older Persons, relations with the European Union, co-ordinating Executive business in the Assembly and generally assisting the First Minister with the discharge of his Ministerial functions.  He stepped down from the Northern Ireland Assembly following the 2010 General Election and was appointed a member of the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly and the UK Delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly. Jeffrey is presently Chief Whip of the DUP Parliamentary Party in the House of Commons and has been appointed by the Prime Minister as UK Trade Envoy to Egypt. In 2016 he was awarded a Knighthood by Her Majesty the Queen in her 90th Birthday Honours List. Jeffrey is 54 years old and is married to Eleanor with two children – Claire and Laura.

In 2010, Mrs. Adawi along with other prominent business professionals founded Acumen Asset Management.

Acumen Asset Management is currently managing Egypt’s Top performing Balanced Equity fund “El Kheir Fund” that ranks number one in cumulative performance for six years from 2012- year-to-date (166%), and Bank Audi’s Egypt Islamic fund “Ezdehar”, the first fund to be launched in Egypt after the revolution and also is Egypt’s top performing fund in return amongst all Islamic funds since its launch in 2015 – year to date (80%). The company was awarded the “Most Innovative Asset Manager 2016 - Egypt” from Investor Review in the UK. The company also manages portfolios of public sector banks, public and private institutions, and high-net-worth individuals with a total AUMs of USD 120 million. Mrs Rana Adawi was recently recognized as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in the economy in Egypt in 2016 in a ceremony that was organized by one of Egypt’s top financial magazines under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Egypt Sherif Ismail. She is a member of the: Top 50 Committee that is taking an active role in the economic development of the country, American Chamber of Commerce; and British Egyptian Business Association- BEBA.

Mrs Adawi’s previous roles include Head of Research in Fleming CIIC Securities, Managing Director of Egyptian Portfolio Management Group, the portfolio management arm of the region’s largest investment bank EFG-Hermes. Under her mandate was the management of Egypt’s largest local mutual funds and equity portfolios of high-net-worth individuals investing in the Egyptian stock market. Total assets under her direct management exceeded EGP 5bn. Mutual funds managed by her were ranked 1st through 3rd for three consecutive years (2005, 2006 and 2007) among all competing Egyptian funds, and beating the index by no less than 50%.

Mohamed Farid Saleh

Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) & The Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges (FEAS) Prior to his appointment as the Executive Chairman of the Stock Exchange, Mr. Farid served as the Chairman and the CEO of Dcode EFC, a leading economic forecasting and advisory firm in Egypt. Furthermore, between 2013 & 2016, Mr. Farid was an external consultant on Venture Capital and Financial Leasing for the World Bank Group in Egypt, and was a member of the Capital Market Advisory Committee established by the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority [EFSA]. Additionally, he was the Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange in 2010-2011. Prior to his appointment as EGX Vice Chairman, he served as a Senior Financial Economist and Head of Capital Markets Unit at the Ministry of Investment, whereby he participated in the formulation and implementation of the two phases of the Non-Banking Financial Sector Reform Plans adopted by the Egyptian Government. During his tenure as EGX Vice chairman, Mr. Farid was responsible for developing a detailed plan for the establishment of derivatives market, as well as the preparation of the legislative rules governing the market Mr. Farid holds a BSc in Foreign Trade and Economics from Helwan University. He also holds an MBA from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (ASST), an MSc in Economics, Finance & Investment from York University, United Kingdom, an MSc in Quantitative Finance from CASS Business School in the United Kingdom and a certificate in Venture Capital form UC Berkley, the United States of America. Dr Ziad Ahmed Bahaa-Eldin

Dr Ziad Ahmed Bahaa-Eldin is an Egyptian Lawyer and expert on financial law, governance, compliance and economic legislation, Managing Partner in Thebes Consultancy, an Egyptian Firm specialized in legal advisory on laws, investment and financial law. He is currently a non-executive member on several company Board of Directors including HSBC Bank Egypt, the National Bank of Egypt UK, Arabian Cement Company, Emaar Egypt, AXA Egypt, Allam Holding and Saray Capital Dubai. He was the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Development and Minister of International Cooperation (2013-2014), Member of Parliament representing Assiut (2012), Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) (2009-2011) and the Executive Chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (2004-2007). He is also a former non-executive member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Egypt (2004-2011), of the National Bank of Egypt (2005-2010), and a former Senior Legal Advisor to the Central Bank of Egypt (2011). From 2000 to 2004, Dr Bahaa-Eldin was a practicing lawyer in Egypt, and from 1997 to 2000 the senior legal advisor to the Minister of Economy. Prior to this, he was in private practice in Cairo and Washington, DC. Dr Bahaa-Eldin was also an adjunct lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the Cairo University (1998-2004). He is the founder and member of the Board of Directors of the Ahmed Bahaa-Eldin Cultural Foundation, a charity promoting education, training, and creative thinking among Egyptian youth in Upper Egypt, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Cairo and a member of the Board of Trustees of The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration. Dr Bahaa-Eldin received his Ph.D. in Financial Law from the London School of Economics (1997), an LL.M. in International Business Law from King’s College London (1989), a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo (1987) and a Bachelor of Law degree from Cairo University (1986).

Vomic is a seasoned professional in international finance with a career spanning over 15 years. Before moving to public service in Her Majesty’s Government, Vomic held various leadership positions in corporate and investment banking, most recently with the French multi-national bank, Societe Generale, in London. At Societe Generale, Vomic headed the Mining and Natural Resources sector for the bank and covered a number of growth markets, including North Africa. IAMD is a London based institution to offer "a unique blend of training and certification in the areas of diplomacy and media. "She is a confident passionate influential with an extensive network and professional relationships within the Diplomatic and media communities."

 

Ahmed Kouchouk

 Vice Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies & Institutional Reform - Egypt

Ahmed Kouchouk was appointed Vice Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies and Institutional Reform in March 2016. He is a professional economist and policy advisor with more than 13 years of applied experience. Before assuming his current post, Ahmed worked for the World Bank from June 2013 to March 2016 as a Senior Economist based in Cairo.

His responsibilities included monitoring and reviewing Egypt’s macroeconomic stance and developments, assessing economic policies adopted and their implications and engaging with the Government of Egypt on requested technical assistance and advisory services in the macro-fiscal domain. Before that, Ahmed was Economic Advisor to the Minister of Finance and the Director of the Macro Fiscal Unit, a leading advisory unit at the Ministry of Finance (2012 to mid-2013), the executive manager of the Macro Fiscal policy Unit (2007- 2008)/ (2010-2012), Economist at the technical office of the Minister of Finance (2004-2007), and Economic Analyst at the Ministry of Foreign Trade (2002-2004). During his professional path, Ahmed represented the Government of Egypt in a number of international venues

such the Deauville Partnership and the International Monetary and Financial Committee, as well as playing a lead role in IMF discussions. Ahmed has a Master degree in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a Master degree in Economics from York University in the United Kingdom, and a B.S. in Economics in 1999 from the American

University in Cairo.

A visionary leader, Cairo born Fatma has driven the brand’s growth and success through expansion and cross-cultural collaborative projects and has enhanced values in local, regional and international markets. Her strong involvement in multiple developmental and community projects has also won her entrepreneurial recognition by many regional and international organisations.

A key player in shaping the jewellery design & making sector in Egypt, she has also been integral to the development of The Design Studio (DSAF) set up by her mother in 2013; independently funded, the Cairo base educational training hub for aspiring jewellery designers & students offers comprehensive curriculum based courses.  Fatma is a fellow of the Aspen Institute.

He is now an International Business Development Manager working within a small team aiming to raise awareness of our financial support overseas (and in the UK) and works closely with DIT on its HVC (High Value Campaigns) programme where export credit support may be needed. Steve has regional responsibility for Middle East & North Africa and the Americas. His role also involves early engagement with sponsors/buyers/borrowers/bankers on specific project opportunities and suppliers/trade bodies in the UK on market opportunities and specific project leads. Steve has previous experience in Country Risk and of promoting, in simple terms, how UKEF’s products can provide valuable support to UK companies wishing to export and to Overseas Buyers looking at engaging UK contractors/suppliers.
