After graduating with an Economics degree from Cambridge University, Richard Risby worked in the City for firms like Merrill Lynch and Lehman Bros.  In 1992 he became a Suffolk Member of Parliament and inter alia became a Shadow Foreign Office Minister and Shadow Treasury Minister before becoming Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party with particular links to the City and business.  In 2010 he entered the House of Lords and was appointed the Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Algeria in 2012.  He chairs the British Ukrainian Society, is Deputy Chairman of the Small Business Bureau, a Director of the Levy Board and is President of the Association for Decentralised Energy

Rupert Gather

Rupert Gather graduated in Law from Exeter University in 1984 and, after operational service in the British Army, has built a distinguished career in private equity corporate finance. In 2012 Rupert founded InvestUK, where he is now Executive Chairman. InvestUK is a regulated Foreign Direct Investment adviser based in London's prestigious Mayfair district. InvestUK is now the market leader in private equity investment origination and implementation on behalf of international Investors and Entrepreneurs seeking Tier 1 Visa and Residency status in the UK. In the last three years InvestUK has advised on 130 deals worth £31 million of UK Foreign Direct Investment.

Ambassador Partnership LLP

A 37-year diplomatic career, mostly dealing with the Middle East, serving in a range of posts including UAE, Pakistan and Afghanistan, the UN in New York, and as British Ambassador to Lebanon (2003-06), Jordan (2006-11) and Egypt (2011-14). `Retired in 2014, he remains closely in touch with developments in the region, and with networks in London and elsewhere.  His main interest is in the future of the region following the conflicts in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere, and the daunting security, developmental and social challenges it faces. He now consults on political risk and alternative dispute resolution in the Ambassador Partnership.

Nadia Turki

International Academy of Media & Diplomacy

Nadia Turki, a well established London-based journalist, biographer and poet.  "From 2010 to 2015 Nadia was the Senior Editor in the Political Section of Alsharq Al Aswat (Middle East) and has interviewed many senior Arab and international politicians and businessmen.  She is a biographer  .  Nadia regularly hosts and participates in BBC Arabic programmes including "7 Days", "Open Agenda" and "Talk Time" and Sky News Radio4.  Her poetry includes the book "The Vision" and for many years she wrote a daily column in the "Al-Arab" newspaper titled "Reflections of a Woman".  In 2015, Nadia founded and serves as President of the International Academy of Media and Diplomacy (IAMD)." IAMD is a London based institution to offer "a unique blend of training and certification in the areas of diplomacy and media. "She is a confident passionate influential with an extensive network and professional relationships within the Diplomatic and media communities."


Ahmed Kouchouk

 Vice Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies & Institutional Reform - Egypt

Ahmed Kouchouk was appointed Vice Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies and Institutional Reform in March 2016. He is a professional economist and policy advisor with more than 13 years of applied experience. Before assuming his current post, Ahmed worked for the World Bank from June 2013 to March 2016 as a Senior Economist based in Cairo.

His responsibilities included monitoring and reviewing Egypt’s macroeconomic stance and developments, assessing economic policies adopted and their implications and engaging with the Government of Egypt on requested technical assistance and advisory services in the macro-fiscal domain. Before that, Ahmed was Economic Advisor to the Minister of Finance and the Director of the Macro Fiscal Unit, a leading advisory unit at the Ministry of Finance (2012 to mid-2013), the executive manager of the Macro Fiscal policy Unit (2007- 2008)/ (2010-2012), Economist at the technical office of the Minister of Finance (2004-2007), and Economic Analyst at the Ministry of Foreign Trade (2002-2004). During his professional path, Ahmed represented the Government of Egypt in a number of international venues

such the Deauville Partnership and the International Monetary and Financial Committee, as well as playing a lead role in IMF discussions. Ahmed has a Master degree in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a Master degree in Economics from York University in the United Kingdom, and a B.S. in Economics in 1999 from the American

University in Cairo.


Fatma Ghaly

Fatma is a business development specialist with over fifteen years experience.  Fatma’s vision for the brand has seen her strategically develop the Azza Fahmy business founded by her mother, Azza Fahmy, almost 50 years ago from a home-grown brand to an international luxury designer house employing over 200 people. A visionary leader, Cairo born Fatma has driven the brand’s growth and success through expansion and cross-cultural collaborative projects and has enhanced values in local, regional and international markets. Her strong involvement in multiple developmental and community projects has also won her entrepreneurial recognition by many regional and international organisations.

A key player in shaping the jewellery design & making sector in Egypt, she has also been integral to the development of The Design Studio (DSAF) set up by her mother in 2013; independently funded, the Cairo base educational training hub for aspiring jewellery designers & students offers comprehensive curriculum based courses.  Fatma is a fellow of the Aspen Institute.

Helmy Ghazi is the Head of Global banking at HSBC Bank Egypt. Helmy has over 15 years banking experience in both coverage and structured financing across multiple industries including energy, infrastructure and general industrials. Over the course of his career, he has originated and executed numerous complex and landmark financing transactions in Egypt and the MENA region. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Foreign Trade and is a CFA Charterholder.

Stefano Gastaut

Mr. Gastaut was appointed as Chief Executive Officer at Vodafone Egypt, in September 2016.  He joined Vodafone in 2004 and has held a variety of senior roles across markets and functions, including CEO Vodafone Partner Markets, Consumer Director, Strategy and Wholesale Director, Retail Director and Enterprise Sales Director. Stefano sat on the Executive board of Vodafone Italy and Vodafone Ireland.Prior to joining Vodafone, Stefano worked for five years as

a management consultant at Bain & Company and for five years in FMCG at Sara Lee and Philips. Stefano has a Degree in Economics from the University of Turin and has an MBA from INSEAD

Steve has worked with UK Export Finance (UKEF) for many years in a variety of roles. He is now an International Business Development Manager working within a small team aiming to raise awareness of our financial support overseas (and in the UK) and works closely with DIT on its HVC (High Value Campaigns) programme where export credit support may be needed. Steve has regional responsibility for Middle East & North Africa and the Americas. His role also involves early engagement with sponsors/buyers/borrowers/bankers on specific project opportunities and suppliers/trade bodies in the UK on market opportunities and specific project leads. Steve has previous experience in Country Risk and of promoting, in simple terms, how UKEF’s products can provide valuable support to UK companies wishing to export and to Overseas Buyers looking at engaging UK contractors/suppliers.
